The evidence is clear -- the experience of a vaporizer is incomparably superior to smoking in every way. The heat gun fits over the top of the bowl, blowing over the material into the vapor chamber below, from which it is drawn up through the hose. The heat gun is a very critical part of the system, and care must be taken to use it efficiently. There are a number of heat guns on the market which will work, ranging in price from about $40 to several hundred dollars. We find that a good value, high quality heat gun is the Makita (Model HG 1100), with a fully adjustable temperature control and a ceramic core, so there is no metallic taste from the heating element. Vaporizers can provide an easy and painless way for tobacco smokers to stop smoking immediately, while continuing to obtain nicotine in vapor. Once the smoking habit is overcome, it may be easier to taper off the nicotine usage to any level, or to quit it altogether.
One possible caution may be in order. Since the vaporizer delivers only pure material, you do not have the automatic limiting factor of the toxicity of the smoke. In other words, it may be possible to consume more than you intended, needed, or wanted of whatever material you are using. This is especially important when using a vaporizer with tobacco. Tobacco, commonly used as an insecticide, is a very toxic material (unlike cannabis, for example, which cannot be compared with tobacco in toxicity), so it is very important not to exceed a suitable dosage. Likewise, if you are using this device with Salvia divinorum (Diviner’s sage), or any other substance of unknown toxicity, you must be careful not to exceed the desired dosage.
